The archetype that I
found confusing was the magician. The magician who is scared of using their own
powers. They have the ability to influence people and make visions into
realities. The magician doesn’t do magic but transforms something or someone in
some way. He/she could be feared because of the powers they hold. I do not
understand why the magician doesn’t use all this power that they posses. What
is the point of having a power if you’re not going to put it to use? The
magician is looked down as an evil sorcerer, does this mean the magician
involves itself in witchcraft? It has the power to make illusions appear, I
believe this is not a good thing because could believe something that isn’t true.
The magician holds a power which is good and at the same time bad. This
archetype lives in a confusing world and can’t really decide who he/she wants
to be. The magician doesn’t really want to use their power and has a different
way of solving their problems. Magicians could be seen as inspirational character,
in other words a guru. Magicians have an idea of how to solve something always.
An example of a magician archetype in my own opinion would be Steve Jobs. Before
Jobs, people would think computers were for geeks and nerds. Steve Jobs made
that change and now people see the Apple logo as a fashion trend.

The archetype I chose was the warrior. They are set out to the save the day. They are looked upon.
When nobody has anymore hope then that’s where the warrior comes out to sweep
everybody off their feet and save the day. The warrior is someone that’s tough,
courageous, and not afraid of any circumstances. They are out to set goals and
overcome goals. The warrior is out to win and will move anything in his way
that is stopping him. In What Story are You Living? by Carol S. Pearson
and Hugh K. Marr the warrior is labeled as someone who fights only for what
matters, someone goal oriented, out to win, and an individual with success. The
warrior’s challenge is to bring meaning to what they do. They choose their battles
wisely using their wisdom, courage, and their discipline. They have a big sence
of determination.
An individual that could be seen as a warrior could be someone that is in the military. They sign up to the military to serve their country. They are out there to defend their country at any costs. A marine’s job is to protect and serve our country. They risk their lives everyday when they are at war. These individuals have no fear of anything that is confronting them. The marine is a strong individual who is looked at as a hero. They are determined to do their job. They fight for what matters which is their country including their family and friends. This quote by Abraham Lincoln is what really defines a marine "Most people wonder if they've made a difference in the world but Marines, they don't have that problem".

In this English 102
class I have learned a lot. I have learned about the different types of poetry
and about all types of things that are labeled as symbolism. I have improved my
writing and reading with different strategies. In my opinion the blog entries
are usually interesting topics. I prefer writing at home on my computer instead
of writing in class on paper. When I am home, I could listen to music and do my
blog entries at the same time. The most interesting thing I’ve learned about
this class is all the different meanings some words have. Also, what some words
represent. Before I started the course I thought we would have group meetings
online at home, but we do not obviously. I thought class would take on at home
and at school. I thought we would have to meet in an online chat one week and
then in person the next week. So far I’ve enjoyed this class and have learned a
few things I never knew about. This
class is very different from ENG 101 because in ENG 101 you would barely write
essays. In my opinion it was more of a class to improve your reading skills.
This class is a little tougher than ENG 101 but it’s not that hard of a class.
If you know what you’re doing then you should be fine. Also, if you’re up to
date with your work then you should pass. The grading rubric is reasonable.

The author of the poem
"If They Could Speak" is Rosanne Pellicane. She was born in Brooklyn,
and she lived all throughout NYC. She studied interior design at Pratt
University. After that, she brought her skills to Manhattan and started her own
business. After thirty years in the design field, she changed direction
and turned to writing fulltime, first for magazines then her debut novel
"She Came from Heaven". She currently is living in Long Island with
her dog Blue as she continues to pursue her writing career. I chose her poem
because of the connection I felt when I first read it. This poem is about what
happened to New York on the lives of many on 9/11. I could relate to this poem
because I had lost a loved one of mine on this day as well.
I believe Rosanne
Pellicane is trying to say in this poem that the people we lost that day are
not just regular people, they are who we love, their who we will never forget,
and they also are who will continue to look down at us while we live our lives.
The lives lost on 9/11 are the lives of many. The thick black smoke in the air
on that day described how many people were feeling. Their lungs being
suffocated. All the coughing that was being done to their chest being congested
with this smoke. People not only suffered a great loss on 9/11 but also lost a
part of their heart on that day. 9/11 will always be a memorable day.
All of the symbols in
this poem lead to one thing, love. Without it, all of our lost one wouldn’t be
important to us. They are gone but are not forgotten. They risked their lives
in order to help our country. They did not do it because it was their job; they
did it for their loved ones. Many of our countries firefighters and policeman
lost their lives on that day to do one thing, protect and serve. These are not
just regular people, they are known as heroes. Without them our country would
be a totally different place. The symbols of love and sorrow all relate to one
another in this poem because people on that day were doing both. There was no
time to love because the person who they loved was no longer there. There was
only time for sorrow because of what had happened to their fallen.
People
on that day were going through a sign of depression. Everyone was heartbroken
and felt like they lost a part of themselves. I believe people risked their
lives on this day because they knew what they were up against. Going into the
towers while they were burning showed how brave all these heroes were. Rosanne
Pellicane explains how the person passes away and their loved one must carry on
for them. This is an emotional thought which gives the mind a clear picture of
how it felt to be in the World trade Center on that day. People must continue
to survive one step at a time and try not to sorrow because of their loses, but
just remember how they helped save many lives and how they became saviors. They
are lost, but lost in good hope. This poem shows all the hardships those who
passed on had. On 9/11 firefighters, policeman, and other saviors had no choice
but to go inside the World Trade Center and save lives. It was their duty. These
struggles could have changed if the whole event didn’t happen, but it’s not
something the U.S would think would happen one day.
In
conclusion, on 9/11 the world changed. Many lives were lost and the U.S had seemed
defeated. The attack that occurred on
the World Trade Center on that day affected the lives of many. Those who made it
out on time and those who did not. The lives that were lost on that day are
still remembered by family members and friends. These were good lives that were
taken away from us for such a horrific reason without choice. If this event
would not have occurred then the world would maybe be in a totally different
state. Rosanne Pelicane shows the sorrow felt by others on 9/11. Getting that
phone call saying your loved one has passed is something you wouldn’t want.
Pellicane speaks on how the heroes didn’t want to leave their loved ones but they
were captured by fate and escorted by angels.Sunday, September 22, 2013

In lines 4 and 5 it the narrator says "The wounds will heal, your
tears will dry and though scars remain, I know you are strong enough to live
through the pain." meaning that overtime all the pain and sorrow will be
overcame. Time will heal all the pain that was felt from that day. In line 6,
it says "Do not grieve and linger in the shadows of graves" this
would mean that the person who lost a loved one shouldn't stand by their losses grave and grieve. That would only make
things worse for themselves. In line 15, it says "Let fear die and let
love flow again like a river" this would mean to stop being scared and
start loving one another like they used too. Love is a given opportunity.
All of the symbols in this poem lead to one thing, love. Without it, all

The song "Thriller" by Micheal Jackson plays an important role in the supernatural world. I chose this song because first, I'm a fan of Micheal Jackson's music and secondly because this song/video is one of the scariest I have ever seen. The music video is about a guy watching a movie with a girl he took out on a date, while watching the scary movie the guy starts to bring the girl closer to him so she wouldn't be so scared. He was trying to spook her to put the moves on her. Later in the video she finds out Micheal is just a zombie trying to eat her alive along with all his other zombie friends! I think this video is purely genius because it surprises the viewer with the whole plot and setting.

This poem for me was very confusing at first, as we discussed it in class I have further come to understanding it. The poem "Original Sin: A Short Story" by Robert Penn Warren symbolizes hatred. The narrator is explaining on how someone betrayed him/her. The narrator is explaining on how someone acted like a very cruel person. This disobeyed their orders and now acts like they don't know each other. Hatred is seen all within the story. The narrator states that the character how now become to a point where he has to reminiscence all the things they have done in the past. The symbolic feature in this poem became more like a life learned lesson. The narrator explains how the protagonist is being taught a lesson on life and not to take it for granted. The protagonist denies knowing the truth behind what the narrator says but he can not get over the fact that he/she is homesick. They miss their home and the people back home miss them as well.
